For a while ago my collegaue Morten Kolek did an interview on me for Yilport Oslo.
He agreed for me that I could publish it here. So here you go 🙂
Knut Fredrik Olsen
Operating Technician, YILPORT Holding Inc.
How did you end up working for YILPORT?
I was hired as an operating technician / crane operator in KF Harbour Oslo in 2014. My career started in 2012 as an aqua marine operator in Grieg Seafood Co., which is where I had my first encounter with a crane – telescope crane. For the first time in my life I felt like I was doing something that suited me. Since the beginning of 2015 I have been working for YILPORT.
What is exiting about being a crane operator?
I enjoy operating the crane on a day-to-day basis because I feel challenged. In our line of work it is expected to perform on a high level. The key to a healthy production is to be accurate, focused and alert. YILPORT have given me the opportunity to operate our SSG (Ship to Shore) cranes. I’m glad that we are prioritising the implementation of new technologies and automation.
How would you describe yourself?
I was born in Finnmark, Northern Norway. People will say that I am a typical northern man – not afraid to speak my mind and often seen as enthusiastic. In my youth I was active in different types of sports, which is common in Norway. I must say that playing computer games caught my interest the most. I`ve been gaming from the age of 6, and it still continues to thrill me.
The reason I emphasize this is because I do believe that this is connected to my eager in operating the crane, and also to some extend, the reason I have succeeded in this profession.
Besides playing computer games, I have a girlfriend that I love hanging out with. I`m passionate about photographing, and I have my own blog: www.kfolsen.com, where you among more can read about my life in general as an operator.
Fint å se at du lever livet! 🙂 ❤
